Collaboration Keeps Conferencing Strong September 23, 2009
As RollCall prepares to launch a new webcasting service, for my own personal knowledge, I’ve been reading more about the various video and rich media streaming services available in the market and why businesses are using it. So today on Conferencing News, I came across some of the reasons why video conferencing products have become very popular recetnly. With the application of new technologies, businesses that use video conferencing save lots of money on their travel budgets, but one thing the article doesn’t bring up is the substantial investment in hardware. Each office has to have the equipment to communicate via video conferencing in order for the service to be effective. Here’s where I think webcasting makes more sense, because everyone in business already has a computer and can watch demos, product launches and presentations, so webcasting as a one to many solution makes a lot of sense, and we’re seeing it as a new means of conducting business meetings and creating product awareness.
